VIS ISLAND

Vis has an interesting history as it was the main naval base of Yugoslavia’s National Army and you can take a tour to find out all about that. It is the farthest inhabited island off the Croatian mainland. The sea around this island is rich with fish, especially blue fish such as sardine, mackerel, and anchovy. Vis fishermen developed their own type of fishing boat, the “falkuša“. Fun fact: In 2008 and 2017 both Mamma Mia movies were filmed on this island.
